2009 KPMG Corporate Volunteer Day

KPMG volunteers and some mentally disabled people from Yang-Mei Living & Vocational Training Center for the Retarded, one of 54 non-profit organizations, enjoyed a happy day. |

The theme this year was to give disabled people and senior citizens a joyful day by accompanying them. |

This event improved colleagues’ physical and mental balance and helped them to think more broadly. |

The Second Charity Bazaar
|
KPMG in Taiwan held a second charity bazaar on 3 June which sold over 200 items donated by partners and employees. Six social welfare organizations were invited to participate in the bazaar. More than USD 5,000 was raised to help social welfare groups and disadvantaged schools. The CEO of KPMG in Taiwan, Winston Yu, said,” We have always spared no effort to promote corporate social responsibility, and also encouraged every colleague to learn to help disadvantaged groups.”

2010 KPMG Scholarship Award in Taiwan
|
In 2006, KPMG and the Finance and Economics Research and Education Foundation started to provide scholarships for excellent or less fortunate accounting students. So far, we have assisted 189 successful scholars and low-income students to complete their undergraduate studies. The 2010 KPMG Scholarship Award Ceremony was held on 14 May. There were over 115 VIPS, including the chairs of the accounting departments at 18 universities, partners from KPMG in Taiwan, and 37 scholars and their family members who attended the ceremony.

KPMG and Clients Held a Computer Charity Drive
|
KPMG in Taiwan and nine clients held a charity drive on 16 Dec to donate computers to the Aboriginal Digital Opportunity Centres and charities in response to the devastation caused by Typhoon Morakot on 8 August 2009. Partners and staff of KPMG in Taiwan also supported 5 elementary schools in the disaster areas with Christmas gifts.
